The site has some pretty good posts and there are links to some good solutions providers. Manufacturing systems have really changed a lot in the last couple of years. There are a lot more thin client systems on the narket and SaaS systems are making it easier to afford some systems that were previously not available to all manufacturers. SaaS is a method of paying for systems on a monthly basis as opposed to an up front payment for a licence.

There are drawbacks to SaaS. The main drawback is that your buying a solution that everyone else is using as well. So the opportunities to modify and fine tune the system are minimal. There are some SaaS systems on the market that offer an API or applications programming interface. An API allows you to integrate with a a given system. We’ve seen customers use this to their advantage when working with online SaaS solutions. An example might include the ability to upload data like order information from your existing ERP solution into the online SaaS solution.
